Welcome

Takoradi Ghana Golf Course - The "Pebble Beach of West Africa"

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the Takoradi Sports Club and Golf Course. Started in the early 1920's as a service to the British military it once boasted; horse stables, salt water swimming pool, tennis courts, and sailing club. It is the site of the ONLY ocean front golf course in Ghana, Togo, and Liberia.

Although the course has membership it is open to any visitors. We have caddies and clubs for rent and caddies are available.

Fees are: 9 hole =10.00 Cedi's, 18 holes = 20.00 cedi's (unlimited for the day)

Caddie Fees: 1.50 Ghana Cedi's for 9 holes, 3.0 Ghana Cedi's for 18 holes.

Equipment Rental: Please see caddie or professional for prices.

The course is a 9 hole layout, with separate tees and green options to make 18 holes. The course is modestly maintained by a simple tractor and hand laborer. We do not have traditional greens, but rather "browns". A mix of sand with used engine oil it is a very smooth putting surface once your line is smoothed by the local caddies. Beware of chip shots that come into the brown too high, or you may find your ball in the next fairway of the bush!

We also have golf professionals and local caddies, who are available for lessons and to play with if you need tips on how to play African golf!

Please come join us anytime you are in the Takoradi area for a round of golf and a spectacular view of the ocean. We hope you will find time to enjoy a drink and food on the clubhouse veranda.

If you would like to find the golf course and are new to African Golf in Takoradi, just ask any taxi driver for any of the following places and you will find yourself at the course "Takoradi Sports Club", "Golf Course", "Golf Pitch" or the "Golf Park" and you will easily find us there.
